From first rides to competitive goals, the VDR Lesson Program helps riders grow with confidence.
We believe in building a strong foundation for both horse and rider. Whether you are looking to fine-tune your skills or simply enjoy time in the saddle, our lessons focus on developing strength, feel, and connection. Each rider is met where they are, and we work with you to create a program that supports your goals.
Our lessons cover everything from horsemanship on the ground to refining skills in the saddle. Because working with horses involves much more than riding alone, riders develop a well-rounded understanding in a positive and supportive environment.
Time spent with horses also helps build confidence, balance, responsibility, and a deeper connection with animals, nature, and ourselves. The skills learned in the barn often carry far beyond the saddle.
We welcome riders of all levels, from first-time beginners to advanced competitors. Coaching is available in barrel racing, timed events, eventing, jumping, roping, horsemanship, and recreational riding.
The VDR lesson program is designed and closely overseen by Head Coach Elana von Doeler, a certified Equestrian Canada Specialist Coach, ensuring riders receive thoughtful and consistent instruction.
Lessons are available year-round for riders ages 5+, and we work with your schedule to find suitable ride times. For our younger riders ages 2–5, be sure to check out our Little Dude Rides.

Ideal for riders who would like to experience a lesson at the ranch or whose schedule does not allow for a consistent weekly time slot. Individual lessons can be booked at times that work best for you.
Each lesson is tailored to the rider’s goals, helping build confidence, develop solid skills, and deepen their understanding of working with horses.
Individual lessons are also a great option for riders visiting the area, looking to supplement their regular training, or getting started in our program before joining a group.

Monthly lesson packages are designed for riders who can commit to a consistent weekly time slot.
Regular lessons help riders build feel, confidence, and a stronger partnership with the horse while creating consistency with both horses and instructors.
Riders wishing to participate in our Jackpots or Events are required to be enrolled in weekly lessons.
Tips:
Riders starting mid-month may book "single sessions" until the next monthly cycle begins.
In months with five weeks, riders may choose to add a fifth lesson.

Designed for riders who would like to learn together with friends or family. Single Session Group Lessons allow you to choose a date and time that works for your group.
These lessons are tailored to your group’s interests and goals. Whether you’d like to learn more about horsemanship or try a new skill, we customize the experience to be both fun and educational.
This option is ideal for those looking for a one-time lesson or groups who prefer the flexibility of booking as needed rather than committing to a weekly time slot.

Group sizes are kept small so riders can learn alongside others while still receiving individual guidance.
Weekly lessons are required for riders wishing to participate in our Jackpots or Events.

Coaching with Elana
Elana offers coaching for riders looking to further develop their skills and performance. Her background includes professional barrel racing and international-level three-day eventing. She has trained and worked globally under many Olympians and World Champions and is a certified EC Specialist Coach and Mindset Mastery Coach.
Her lessons focus on building strong mental and physical foundations for both horse and rider, along with performance development across barrel racing, horsemanship, eventing, and timed events.
Coaching with Elana is available for strong intermediate and advanced riders.
Elana is also available for clinics and seminars from May–October.
Private Lesson or Coaching Call: $75 + HST
Semi-Private Lesson: $60 + HST per rider
Performance Coaching Session (2 Hours): $125 + HST
A focused session combining mindset, systems and riding to improve confidence, clarity, and performance.
